The short version
SOLUS Sky runs on your Mac and reads your Starlink dish on your own local network. It does not require an account, and we do not collect, store, or sell your personal information. Almost everything stays on your device. The few things that leave it are described below, and only ever to make a feature work.
What stays on your device
Your set location, your dish's live and historical readings, your data usage and energy totals, and your settings are all stored on your Mac. They are never sent to us. Removing the app removes them.
Information sent to others to make features work
To provide certain features, the app connects to third-party services. As with any internet request, those services can see your device's IP address. We never send them your identity.
- Weather: to show local weather and rain-fade context, your approximate location (coordinates) is sent to Open-Meteo.
- Satellite positions: the app downloads public orbital data from CelesTrak. No personal information is sent.
- Speed test: the speed test uses Cloudflare's public endpoints. Cloudflare collects the result for its own aggregate connection-quality insights.
- Maps: map imagery is provided by Apple Maps and is subject to Apple's privacy terms.
- Place name: to turn your set location into a place name, the app uses Apple's location services on your device.
Feedback you choose to send
If you use "Send feedback", the app prepares an email to us containing your message and, only if you switch it on, a diagnostics report. That report describes your dish's status only. It contains no personal messages and no location. Nothing is sent unless you send the email.
What we do not do
No accounts. No tracking. No analytics. No advertising. We do not sell or share your personal information with anyone.
Notifications
Any alerts are shown locally by your Mac. They are not sent to us.
Children
SOLUS Sky is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above.
