Make sure your Mac is on your Starlink network, by wi-fi or ethernet. The app reads your dish directly, with no login.
The first time it connects, macOS asks to allow Local Network access. Click Allow.
Your dish does not report its position, so set it once. Use "Use my location" or drop a pin on the map. You can change it any time.
That figure is your live usage, not your top speed, so it sits near zero when nothing is downloading. Run the speed test to see your real speed.

Yes. Every layer uses real public orbital data and shows the satellites at their real positions.
Recent dish firmware no longer reports its position, so you set it once.
No, it is an estimate. The dish does not report which satellite it is using, so we show the most likely one, the highest overhead.
It is measured while your Mac is on and the dish is answering. Your dish does not store a running total, so time your Mac is off is not counted.
